The Hockey Development Centre for Ontario (HDCO) is once again pleased to announce that the 2008-2009 "Penalty Free Sweepstakes" contest will take place from December 6, 2008 through January 31, 2009.

The Penalty Free Sweepstakes is open to any amateur hockey team in Ontario. For every penalty free game played during the contest period, a team can enter the Sweepstakes by completing an entry form and forwarding a copy of the game sheet, signed by a qualified official, to the HDCO office. Contest details and Official Entry Forms are available on the HDCO website at www.hdco.on.ca.

This year every team will be eligible to win prices valued at over $75,000.00. In addition, every player will receive a memento acknowledging their penalty free game.

The program, which was developed by the members of the HDCO to promote skills, safety, and sportsmanship in Canada's most popular sport, are proud to have the support of Paul Henderson (former NHL and Team Canada player), Ron MacLean (host of Hockey Night in Canada) and Geraldine Heaney (Canadian Women's National & Olympic Team) as program spokespeople. In addition, the HDCO would like to acknowledge all our prize sponsors and the Ministry of Health Promotion for their assistance in promoting the value of fair play for all amateur hockey participants in Ontario.
